L3

Monday, December 9th, 2002

Seemingly random members of the ARG community were delivered emails today, containing personally addressed letters in PDF format and, in some cases, attached mp3 or graphic files. The letters appeared to be from a Denver, CO, based law firm called Landau, Luckman & Lake, PLLC. As yet, no one knows the original source of the information, or its purpose or the purpose of the attached files. The law firm claims to just be passing it along. Someone did note, however, that the name of the law firm brings up X-Men comic references when Googled.

Discussion is rampant on the Unforum and (we're told) at CD (registration required). In a surprising move, WB managed to track down someone claiming to speak for Landau, Luckman & Lake and have a few words with him. Way to go, WB!

Experience It! …If You’re in Boise

Friday, December 6th, 2002

ExperienceIt is a local event for Boise-area residents only. It is a family-oriented activity geared towards the local community, in support of and with the cooperation of local businesses and non-profit organizations. This is a student-developed project which involves some internet sites along with real-world clues but you must be in Boise to receive them. If you live in Boise, feel free to follow along but the rest of us should leave this one alone for now.

The organizers of this event have extended a public apology to anyone who may have been led astray by the original post to the Unforum and subsequent events in response. After the local event is over, we may receive some scans and photos of the real-world clues so that those of us who are interested can play along after the fact.

Please do not attempt to contact the organizers, puppetmasters, or referenced businesses any further. We'll have more information in a couple of weeks.

Experience It

Bioboy posted to the Unforum about a possible new game, which seems to revolve around some mysterious "Inventor" and his amazing creation called "Experience," that vaguely reminds me of the movie "Strange Days" for some reason.

I received a flyer on my car at a local mall in my area. It contained a cool logo and internet address. I am currently working my way through.

I think it is real, but it might be a local thing ?

Now, naturally I am suspicious in general of a quick join and first post about some possible new game. And this time is no exception. But hey, it looks interesting enough to follow up on for a bit to see what's what. One funny thing is that the description on the site claims that multiple cities were begging the "Inventor" to bring his "Experience" to them, yet this is the first I've heard of it. Clearly it's completely true and not at all a game. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think.
